Fake Gold Smuggling: Assam Police Arrest Five Culprits with 1.700 kg statue of Jesus Christ

Assam police arrested five culprits in fake gold smuggling case, fake gold statue of Jesus Christ weighing 1.700 kg seized.

The arrests were made in two separate operations, with one operation conducted in Namdoboka Pathar area under Doboka police station in Nagaon district and the other in the Tezpur Salanibari area of Sonitpur district. During these operations, law enforcement authorities made a crucial seizure of a counterfeit gold statue of Jesus Christ and a fake gold biscuit. In the first operation, based on actionable intelligence, the police swiftly conducted an operation in Namdoboka Pathar. 

Three individuals were arrested, identified as Aslam Talukdar, Zubair Hussain, and Iqbal Hussain. The police team seized a fake gold statue of Jesus Christ weighing approximately 1.700 kg from their possession. Further investigation into this case is ongoing, as the police work to uncover the network involved in the fake gold smuggling operation. 

Providing details of the operation, an officer from Doboka police station stated, “Acting on secret information, we successfully recovered a counterfeit gold statue of Jesus Christ and apprehended three individuals. The arrested persons have been identified as Aslam Talukdar, Zubair Hussain, and Iqbal Hussain. Our investigation is currently underway to ascertain the extent of their involvement.” In a separate operation carried by the Sonitpur district police, two individuals were arrested in the Tezpur Salanibari area. The arrested individuals were identified as Ikramul Hussain and Jamal Ali. During the operation, the police seized a fake gold biscuit from their possession. The investigation is progressing as the authorities delve deeper into the smuggling network and gather more evidence.

The successful operations conducted by the police highlight their commitment to combating illegal activities and protecting the integrity of the market. Smuggling of counterfeit gold poses significant threats to the economy and unsuspecting buyers. The police authorities remain vigilant and dedicated to dismantling such illicit operations.
