Due to a fire that broke out on the ground floor of an IT business centre in Pune’s Viman Nagar and spread to the upper floors through a duct, over 2,000 employees of various companies were evacuated. Several companies were operating from the multi-storied building. There were no casualties in the fire, officials said.
As soon as fire tenders and a skylift were deployed from nearby fire stations for the rescue operation, the blaze spread to the upper floors at Solitaire Business Hub in Viman Nagar.
According to Pune Fire Brigade officials, the fire likely started in the building’s electric room and spread to the ninth floor via the duct. Over 2,000 employees of different companies operating from the building were evacuated, according to building security and safety officials, who brought the fire under control by 2.20 pm.
Employee safety was the top priority, and the building officials quickly took action to evacuate everyone from the building as soon as the fire was detected. The fire brigade officials were also quick to respond and arrived at the spot promptly to control the fire.
The fire brigade officer said, “We are assessing the property damages. Initial reports suggest no casualties in the incident.” This fire is still being investigated, and the authorities are taking all necessary steps to ensure that such incidents are avoided in the future.
