A unifying endeavour aimed at stirring nationalistic feelings and commemorating the sacrifices of countless heroes, the campaign promises to be an unforgettable tribute to India’s rich legacy.

A nod from the top: Prime minister’s call for celebration

The fervour for the 77th Independence Day has been amplified by none other than the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Addressing the nation during his 103rd Mann Ki Baat edition on July 30, he spotlighted the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ initiative set to launch during the revered Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Between August 9 and August 15, the campaign is scheduled to shine a spotlight on the valiant souls who laid down their lives for the nation’s pride.

Pimpri Chinchwad’s march forward

Under the vigilant eye of Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, Pimpri Chinchwad’s commitment to the nationwide initiative has been firmly set. At a review assembly at the Pimpri Municipal Corporation’s central administrative hub, the roadmap for ‘Meri Mitti Mera Desh’, fondly termed ‘Mitti Ko Naman, Viron Ko Vandan’, was laid out amidst the backdrop of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. Key municipal dignitaries, including Additional Commissioner Ulhas Jagtap and City Engineer Makarand Nikam, graced the occasion, underscoring the importance of the campaign.

The heart of the campaign: Spreading awareness and reverence

Going beyond mere celebration, the ‘Meri Mitti Mera Desh’ initiative delves deep. It seeks to nurture respect, understanding, and a deep-seated love for the nation and its incredible history. A flagship event, the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’, epitomizes the campaign’s essence. A monumental journey will see 7500 urns, filled with soil from India’s vast expanse, journey to the capital city, Delhi. Accompanying these urns will be saplings from diverse regions, symbolizing India’s unity in diversity.

Culmination into the “Amrit Vatika”

All roads lead to the construction of the ‘Amrit Vatika’ near the revered National War Memorial. This landmark will be a testament to ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ as it blends soil and saplings from the 7500 urns. A living tribute, it will eternally represent the nation’s undying spirit and unity.

Honouring the guardians of the nation

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation doesn’t stop there. A grand felicitation awaits the kin of the nation’s protectors – be it the valorous armed forces, the unsung freedom fighters, or the devoted veterans. The city’s inhabitants will also be ushered to partake in a solemn pledge, reaffirming their allegiance to the country. As the crescendo builds, a harmonious rendition of the National Anthem and a grand flag hoisting ceremony will mark a fitting conclusion.

Amidst a time of celebration, reflection, and reverence, the campaign serves as a reminder of the countless sacrifices made and the unbreakable bond that is India. It’s not just an event, but a rekindling of India’s timeless spirit.
