Pune Traffic Diversions for Palkhi Processions on 12 June

Sant Shree Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj are set to converge in Pune city on June 12. To ensure smooth flow and avoid traffic congestion, temporary traffic diversions and route changes will be implemented in the city. Let’s take a closer look at the details of this grand event and the necessary measures being taken.

Traffic Management for Palkhi Processions

The convergence of the palanquins of Sant Shree Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj is a significant event in Pune city. To facilitate the smooth movement of the Palkhi processions, the Pune Traffic Police have devised a comprehensive traffic management plan. The following measures will be implemented:

Road Closures and Time Restrictions

From 2 am onwards on June 12, certain roads in Pune city will be closed for regular traffic. This step aims to ensure the safety and convenience of the Palkhi processions. Additionally, heavy vehicles entering Pune from Mumbai, Solapur, and Ahmednagar will be temporarily banned during the Palkhi event.

As the Palkhi processions progress, traffic will be gradually resumed in a phased manner to minimize disruptions. It is essential for motorists to cooperate with the police and adhere to the instructions provided.

GPS Tracking and Traffic Control

To efficiently manage the movement of the Palkhi processions, selected vehicles will be equipped with GPS tracking systems. This technology will enable the authorities to monitor the “live location” of the palanquins. By having real-time information, traffic control measures can be adjusted accordingly, ensuring smooth flow and minimal inconvenience to commuters.

Dedicated App for Palkhi Ceremony

To further enhance coordination and communication, a dedicated mobile application will be made available for the Palkhi ceremony. This app will provide timely updates, information about traffic diversions, and other relevant details. Users can stay informed and plan their routes accordingly, minimizing any potential disruptions to their daily routines.

CCTV Surveillance for Traffic Monitoring

To ensure the safety and security of the Palkhi processions, CCTV cameras will be deployed strategically along the route. This surveillance system will enable authorities to closely monitor the traffic situation and promptly respond to any incidents or congestion. With enhanced surveillance capabilities, necessary actions can be taken swiftly, ensuring a seamless experience for both participants and commuters.
