State level basketball tournament: Pune team winner in girls category
The girls' team representing Pune triumphed in the Deccan Gymkhana State-level Under 13 Basketball Tournament, securing a massive victory over the Mumbai team with a scoreline of 70-30 in the final match.
The tournament commenced with Pune facing off against Mumbai Suburban, securing a commanding lead of 19-7. In the subsequent matches, Pune showcased their exceptional skills, outplaying Mumbai Suburban with a remarkable scoreline of 32-13, further extending their lead. In the final showdown against Mumbai, Pune displayed their dominance, clinching a convincing win with a score of 70-30, securing the championship title.
Saloni Patil emerged as the star player for the victorious team, contributing an impressive 20 points. She received valuable support from Anusha Sontakke, who scored 16 points. In the boys’ category, the Nagpur team emerged victorious over the Mumbai team with a scoreline of 47-36.
Famous personalities from various fields, including senior advocate S. K. Jain, Sushil Jadhav from Lokmanya Co-operative Society, Sushil Deshmukh from The Nature Mukaiwadi, and Rohan Pawar from the Pinnacle Group, were present to honor the winners and present the prestigious awards.
The event witnessed the presence of Girish Inamdar, the Secretary of Deccan Gymkhana, Mihir Kelkar, the Financial Secretary of the club, Apurv Sontakke, the Secretary of the Tournament Organizing Committee, Chandrashekhar Apte, and Dhananjay Velukar, the President of the Maha Basketball Association.
