Nandatai Lonkar to Grace the Inauguration of Anandvan Sunshree – Cloud9 NIBM Road on June 14 at 5 PM

In an extraordinary display of resilience, the residents of Anandvan Sunshree-Cloud 9 have successfully orchestrated a remarkable makeover of the approach road serving the Cloud 9 area societies. Once notorious for its narrow expanse and treacherous incline, the road had become a hotbed of accidents, often involving cement mixer RMCs and water tankers.

Pune, June 14, 2023:  Thanks to the unwavering determination of the Anandvan Parisar Residents Forum (APRF), comprising 28 housing societies in the NIBM Road Annexe, the road has undergone a dramatic transformation. The APRF emerged as a unified force for three years, steadfastly addressing the long-standing safety concerns plaguing the road. They organised protests, including dharna programs and human chains, to draw attention to the perilous state of the thoroughfare. Their tireless efforts involved numerous meetings with local authorities, corporators, and even ministers at Mantralaya and the Forest Department. Ultimately, their perseverance paid off, leading to the much-needed clearance from the forest authorities.

The road improvement project, initiated in March 2023, is now culminating. Tara Singh, President of APRF, expressed deep satisfaction, announcing that a significant portion of the road will be officially opened on June 14, 2023, by MLA Shri Chetan Tupe. Dignitaries such as Shri Prashant Jagtap, City President, and former Corporator Shrimati Nandatai Lonkar will grace the occasion, further enhancing its significance.

Looking ahead, the residents have identified various civic amenities that require immediate attention. These priorities include providing piped drinking water to the societies, improving drainage networks, and establishing a Sewage Treatment Plant. Additionally, Singh emphasised the pressing need for enhanced law and order enforcement, efficient traffic management, and urgently setting a police chowki in the area. Lt Col Dr Sanjay Borse, Vice President of APRF, echoed these sentiments, while Treasurer Mr Tejpal Singh Suri wholeheartedly endorsed their views.

With over 5000 existing flats and numerous upcoming residential units, the area is experiencing rapid growth. Tara Singh underscored the imperative of augmenting transportation options, such as bus services and metro connectivity, in light of this expansion. Furthermore, constructing alternative roads is paramount in ensuring seamless traffic flow.

The transformation of the Anandvan Sunshree-Cloud 9 approach road is a testament to the efficacy of community activism and fruitful collaboration with authorities. The unwavering dedication exhibited by the APRF inspires residents throughout the city, serving as a shining example of the power of collective endeavour.
