Expansion of EV Charging Infrastructure in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, 15 Stations Already Operational

With the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced plans to establish additional charging stations in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and along national highways.

According to officials, MSEDCL Director (Projects) Prasad Reshme recently inaugurated a new electric charging station on Senapati Bapat Road in Pune, highlighting the utility’s intensified efforts in constructing charging infrastructure. Currently, there are 15 operational charging stations within the Pune zone.

As the state’s nodal agency for EV charging facilities under the e-vehicle policy, MSEDCL aims to keep pace with the rising demand for EVs by setting up state-of-the-art charging stations and ensuring swift power connections for new stations. To facilitate convenient access for EV customers, MSEDCL offers a dedicated power app that provides information about charging station locations, charging durations, power usage, payment options, and account balances, among other details.

The inauguration of the electric charging station was attended by MSEDCL Pune Regional Director Ankush Nale, Chief Engineer of Pune Circle Rajendra Pawar, and other dignitaries. In the Pune Circle, MSEDCL has commissioned EV charging stations at 15 sub-centres, including prominent locations such as Aundh, Baner, Kharadi, Pimple Saudagar, and Vadgaon Sheri.

The expansion of EV charging infrastructure by MSEDCL underscores the commitment to bolstering sustainable transportation and encouraging the transition to greener mobility options. With the ongoing development of charging stations and the user-friendly power app, the convenience and accessibility of EV charging services are set to improve, supporting the growth of the EV ecosystem in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
